If you’ve been loading up on soy supplements to try to keep those hot flashes at bay, you can save your money. A new study finds they don’t help with menopause-related symptoms and they don’t stop bone loss either.
ABC News reports research published in the August Archives of Internal Medicine shows women who took soy showed no changes compared with those who took a placebo.
Women have been using soy supplements to battle menopause symptoms because they contain isoflavones genistein and daidzein phytoestrogens, but, according to the network, the researchers found women in the study who took isoflavones actually had significantly more hot flashes than the control group.
