Democratic Senators Launch Women's Rights Campaign

Kirsten Gillibrand and Barbara Boxer lead charge fueled by Planned Parenthood controversy

Do you stand strong on women’s rights? You may want to check out the initiative launched by U.S. senators Barbara Boxer (D-California) and Kirsten Gillibrand (D-New York).

Care2.com reports that “One Million Strong for Women” was inspired, in part, by the Planned Parenthood funding recently cut, but quickly restored, by the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization. Boxer, Gillibrand and seven other Democratic senators are leading the campaign.

“Our opponents tried to defund Planned Parenthood, in the federal budget and in many states,” Gillibrand told supporters via e-mail, according to Care2.com. “They tried to destroy our Medicare and Medicaid lifelines, which would be particularly devastating to women. They tried to get the Susan G. Komen Foundation to cut off support for Planned Parenthood.”

Think, as the campaign asserts, that “enough is enough”? Click here to stand strong for women.
