Drunk With Nostalgia
Winemaker Mark Beaman pays tribute to Sting with his latest red, “The Police Synchronicity,” ($69; wines-that-rock.com), named after the UK band’s final album. We’re not sure what rocks our wine rack more: the bottle’s vintage, album-art label, or the blend itself—a smooth mix of Zinfandel, Syrah, Petite Sirah, Grenache, Carignane and Viognier. This isn’t Beaman’s first foray into guitarist-inspired grapes: He’s the co-founder of Wines that Rock, launched in 2008 with a varietal called “Rolling Stones Forty Licks Merlot.” The company has since released “Pink Floyd The Dark Side of the Moon Cabernet Sauvignon” and “Woodstock Chardonnay.” Music to our tastebuds.
