“Bridget Jones, wanton sex goddess, with a very bad man between her thighs…Dad…Hi!” Who could forget those words, uttered by Renee Zellweger as a floundering London career girl in what became her first Oscar-nominated performance? It’s one of a quartet of films—and in our opinion, the best—in the newly released Renee Zellweger: 4-Film Collection. The others include her turn as the singing, dancing murderess Roxie Hart in 2002’s Chicago, for which she was also nominated; her portrayal of a buckskin-wearing, tough-talking mountain woman in 2003’sCold Mountain, which finally earned her an Oscar statue; and 2009’s rom-com throwaway New in Town, which bombed for a good reason. Three out of four ain’t bad, though, and overall, the collection will remind you why the bubbly blonde from Texas became a star in the first place. Buy it for Mom—or for yourself, and curl up on the couch.
