Long before she unsettled us with reports of her wacky child-feeding technique (chewing her son’s food, then depositing it into his mouth), Alicia Silverstone charmed the world with her sassy turn in one of the greatest teen movies of all time, 1995’s Clueless. A modern riff on Jane Austen’s Emma, the comedy starred Silverstone as a sartorially-obsessed Beverly Hills high schooler named Cher, who discovers that she isn’t the airhead she seems. The new Blue-ray dvd release—subtitled the “Whatever!” Edition—offers several special features, including updates on the cast (like Paul Rudd, Scrubs’ Donald Faison, the late Brittany Murphy and Suburgatory star Jeremy Sisto), a look back at the film’s ground-breaking fashions, and inside stories from the cast and crew. There’s even an awesome pop-up trivia game (“Alicia Silverstone’s real-life love is an acclaimed wild-life photographer.” The answer, of course, is “As if!”—she’s married to a musician). Special features aside, Clueless is worth watching again for its charming plot and hilarious lines (Cher: “Dionne and I were both named after female singers of the past, who now do infomercials”; “I was surfing the crimson wave, I had to haul ass to the ladies’ room”). Totally classic!—Leslie Van Buskirk
