What to Watch On TV: Five Great Love Stories

Love, Etc.

A single father cooks for his teens, works construction, and struggles to find a date (he loses one because he smokes and drinks). A songwriting pair celebrate their 50-year union while still peddling tunes. A gay man decides to adopt twins as he continues to search for Mr. Right. These stories of love and longing flutter through Jill Andresevic’s charming documentary, Love Etc. (Check it out here.)

The director’s theme is metropolitan love, as found in contemporary New York City in many variations. But perhaps the film’s most intriguing couple are Chitra and Mahendra (pictured here), whose lavish, traditional Indian wedding seems to be the culmination of their romance, yet begins their downward slide, as they struggle with the reality of married life.

Winner of the Hamptons Film Festival Audience Award for Best Feature Documentary, Love Etc. makes its TV debut Thursday, February 2 at 8pm ET/PT on OWN.
