Poll: Men, Women at Odds over Size of Government

Pew survey finds women want bigger government with more services

Forget Romney versus Obama. This year’s presidential election might as well be men versus women.

NPR reports that new political polls show the genders are divided along social issues to some extent, but what has male and female voters most at odds is the size of government.

"On the fundamental question of whether you want a smaller government with fewer services or a bigger government with more services, women and men are in a very different place," Pew’s Carroll Doherty tells the broadcaster. (Women, by the way, favor the latter, NPR notes.) "And that is the fundamental question of this election."
