Powerful moms can be funny (Tiny Fey). And philanthropic (Melinda Gates). They can be athletic (Kim Clijsters). And inquisitive (Ann Curry). They can be fashionable (Vera Wang). And advocate for children (Michelle Obama). And, of course, they can run major companies, too (Ursula Burns, CEO and Chairman of Xerox).
So trying to decide on just one woman to be honored as 2011’s most powerful mom? That’s a demanding task—but we think you’re up to it. This year, Working Mother is asking readers to make the selection by weighing in with their picks via the magazine’s Facebook page or Twitter account, using the hashtag #mpm2011 #workmmom.
In 2010, Working Mother named Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg the Most Powerful Mom of the year. This year, Fey, Obama, Clijsters, Burns and Gates are among the women the magazine has recognized as being powerful.
Think maybe you fit the bill? Just find someone else to nominate you. As Margaret Thatcher said, “Being powerful is like being a lady. If you have to tell people you are, you aren't.”
