Level: Intermediate Forget enlightenment! The point of Mandy Ingber’s DVD is to get in shape-and have some yuks doing it. One 30-minute segment of the DVD fuses yoga moves with calisthenics techniques, such as pulsing in a lunge pose. A second 55-minute portion adds a more conventional vinyasa to the fusion moves. Throughout, Ingber, best known as the trainer to Jennifer Aniston, cracks jokes and makes sure you don’t take anything too seriously, except, perhaps, her belief that we should all stop criticizing our bodies and learn to appreciate them. Yogaworks for Everybody – Fit Abs

Level: Beginner to Intermediate If you want a complete cardio workout in 40 minutes, then this DVD from Yogaworks is just for you. The instructor offers a slow flow that steadily gets faster; you feel the burn in your arms as you repeatedly move in and out of the downward dog position. Shaking is encouraged because it shows how hard you are working your muscles. And as the instructor says, "A smile never hurts." Shiva Rea’s Yogini Vinyasa Flow for Women

Level: Intermediate Get ready for your balance to be put to the test with this vinyasa flow series. Shiva Rea, a practitioner of yoga since the age of 14, takes you through a customizable 75-minute routine that includes segments focusing on love, beauty and empowerment for the female body. Rea does a good job of explaining each step thoroughly, so even if you cannot see the TV because you are bending in a position you never imagined your body could be in, you can still follow her easily. Trudy Styler’s Warrior Yoga

Level: Intermediate Trudy Styler, wife of Sting, moves with amazing grace through two yoga routines. She provides two options: one 45-minute intensive warrior flow, and one 25-minute express warrior flow, all narrated by fitness guru James D’Silva. The movements demand so much focus that you will feel like you’ve finished almost as soon as you got started. Styler offers two mediation practices as an added bonus. Jillian Michaels Yoga Meltdown

Level: Intermediate If you’re looking for a de-stressing yoga session, keep on clicking: Jillian Michaels, star trainer on The Biggest Loser, has something else in store for you. With nary a Namaste, she puts you through two fast-paced, 30-minute yoga workouts designed to build muscle and burn calories. "No slow sequences here," Michaels announces at the beginning of the DVD. "Get ready to get ripped!" Her athletic approach to yoga makes frequent use of switching in and out of positions such as a side plank. Or, as Michaels exhorts, "Rep it out!" Throughout, the trainer delivers clear instructions, and offers modifications for those not in tip-top shape. Be warned: The Level 2 workout is considerably more advanced than the Level 1. Yoga on the Edge with Sara Ivanhoe

Level: Intermediate Trainer-to-the-stars Sara Ivanhoe set this DVD on a beautiful and serene beach in the Bahamas. The DVD offers three different yoga practices. The first, called Sunrise, presents a flow to energize your body. At almost an hour long, this is the most challenging and time consuming of the sessions. If you’re short on time, Ivanhoe presents the half-hour High Noon flow, which focuses on breathing and balance. Yoga To the Rescue for Neck & Shoulders

Level: Beginner to Intermediate Sitting at a desk all day takes a terrible toll on your upper body, and this DVD offers itself as a possible remedy. In the first part, yoga instructor Desiree Rumbaugh thoroughly explains a series of poses that involve chest opening, upper back strengthening and shoulder aligning. In the second part, she presents a flowing vinyasa that ties together most of these positions in a fluid way. Give the producers bonus points for using a man to demonstrate the easier modifications of the moves. The savasana (relaxation) segment emphasizes releasing tension from the neck and shoulders. Heavyweight Yoga: Yoga for The Body You Have Today with Abby Lentz

Level: Beginner In this very bare bones DVD, Abby Lentz offers up yoga suited for people whose weight might be a hindrance to taking part in more typical sessions. A motherly sort who looks like she might have a pot of chicken soup simmering somewhere nearby, Lentz explains the postures and their modifications clearly and simply. The routines (a 24-minute warm-up, plus two 20-minute posture series) move slowly, and end up with a 13-minute savasana (relaxation period). Not a small person, Lentz appears completely comfortable with her body and wears a unitard during parts of the DVD. Buy it from Amazon here.

Yogaworks – Body Slim

Level: Intermediate to Advance This DVD offers the yoga version of interval training, in which you alternate hard periods of exercise that get you out of breath with easier recovery segments. Interval training in general has been shown to make you burn more calories than you would doing aerobic exercise for the same period of time. At one point in the 50-minute routine there is slow-burn mode that makes you want to fall over but the instructor is there pushing you on. Shiva Rea Daily Energy Vinyasa Flow Yoga

Level: Intermediate No one does yoga like Shiva Rea, a California blonde who was given the name of a Hindu deity by her surfer dad. An aficionado of trance dancing, this yoga conference favorite leads sessions that are extremely fluid and that often call for some improvisational undulations. For the right person, these movements are extremely freeing. In this DVD, Rea offers up seven 20-minute segments, one for each chakra (such as fire and water). Rodney Yee’s Yoga for Beginners

Level: Beginner Yoga heart thob Rodney Yee and Colleen Saidman have joined up to provide a back-to-basics yoga tutorial that clearly explains 20 classic yoga poses. The two instructors then each offer a slow-paced 20-minute routine made up of those poses: an energizing practice, taught by Yee and the rejuvenating practice, taught by Saidman.
