After 17 years of marriage, the parents of Disney sensation Miley Cyrus filed for divorce, saying in a statement, "As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for our family."

"The reason for this separation is to better understand ourselves and the qualities we need in a partner and for our marriage," they said in a statement. Cox has since insisted, "this is not like we’re getting divorced…this is a separation, and I think that takes a lot of courage."

The couple met at a Versace store opening in Manhattan in 2006 and had a daughter, Nahla, two years later. Berry, who is now dating her Dark Tide costar Olivier Martinez, has said, "We have always been friends, we’re still friends, we love each other very much, and we both share the love of our lives."

At first, the rocker claimed their split was amicable, but Michaels took to her blog to sing a different tune: "Please stop telling the press it was mutual." She’s also accused Etheridge of not providing her with enough money to take care of their twin toddlers.

The couple-together for nine years, engaged for five-quietly separated months ago, but confirmed their split in November. Just in time for the release of Aronofsky’s Black Swan.
