After putting my writing career on a shelf for 20 years-my motto became "Nothing is too small". I started sending in one sentence to magazines that needed fill, sending in recipes for contests and sending out constant e-mails to the local newspapers asking if they could "use a new hand".
It took a while but slowly I saw those sentences popping up in major magazines, my recipes winning awards and being published in hardback cookbooks and landed a permanent free-lance position on the newspaper!
Today-8 long years later I write a twice weekly cooking column and book reviews for a woman’s website, still write features for the newspaper, but they’ve given me my own monthly column in one of their local editions as well! I’ve also added two other small interest newspapers to my list of clients.
I may not be making a lot, but I’m doing what I’ve always wanted to do-write!
