In the interest of full disclosure, I have to tell you I haven’t had a hair cut in over six months. Not that I haven’t needed one, mind you, but the act of actually getting myself to the salon never quite made it to the top of the priority list. I had holiday shopping to do, of course, and also extra time logged at the gym (all those sugar cookies aren’t going to disappear off my thighs by themselves). And then I looked at myself in the mirror and I was horrified. My mane had become so long and unruly that whatever chic shape was once cut into it had vanished. I’ve been wearing pony tails almost exclusively, I realize, and I wouldn’t know the difference between a good hair day and a bad hair day if I was being interrogated by the FBI. My bad. The point is this: Getting stuck in a style rut—whether it’s hair related, fashion related or relationship related for that matter, is a bad thing. Tweaking your look, updating it on a regular basis, is a necessity if you want to look chic and modern in a chic and modern world (yes, you). Have you been carrying the same handbag for more than a year? Make a change. Has your shade of lipstick outlasted your water filter? Try something new. You don’t have to spend a lot of time or money, but the payoff will be huge. As for my hair? I’m scheduled, and I’m chopping it off.
Go! Buy! Be Chic!
