What Was That? Sorry, It’s the Menopause

Study finds women transitioning into the change have memory issues

Can’t ever seem to find your keys? Forget your family’s phone numbers? Aren’t sure what it was you ran into the store to grab? Oh, you must be going through the transition to menopause.

According to CNN, a new study finds about two-thirds of middle-aged women in perimenopause report memory lapses or problems.

“Our work suggests that there’s something to that—there is something to their complaints,” Miriam Weber, the study’s author and a neurophysiologist at the University of Rochester, tells the network. “It might not be memory . . . but it is a cognitive process that’s related to the types of things they’re experiencing.”
