What makes your new Bravo show, Kathy (Thursdays, 10 pm ET), different from the other talk shows?
My no-holds-barred attitude toward pop culture—and poking fun at things in my personal life.

What makes you happy?
Getting people to laugh. When somebody having a tough day tweets me that I made them laugh, that’s my favorite thing.

Loving second bananas
I’m a big sitcom fan, and I especially love the female sidekicks. When I was a kid, I wanted to be Rhoda more than I wanted to be Mary. When I got to play the sidekick on Suddenly Susan, my dream came true.
Harshest lessonAs a kid, I encountered my share of bullies. Once, a group of popular girls started kicking me in the ribs. Back then, you didn’t have a place to go for help. Eventually I dealt with it by making those girls laugh, or I made a joke at their expense so the other kids would laugh at them.

I always felt I wasugly and that there was a fix, whether it was plastic surgery or compulsive dieting. Now I know those fixes don’t make you happy. I’ve stopped doing Botox and plastic surgery. I’m in bettershape than ever; I eat better, and I feel better.

A new kind of aging

Age isn’t what it used to be. My mother is 91, and she still loves a box of wine. I asked her if she could be any age, what would it be, and she said 40. Well, I’m over 50 now, and I’m convinced this is the best age. Why? Because I look smokin’ hot! And I’m having the best time in my whole life!
