Yet Another Reason to Drink Red Wine

New research calls wine’s resveratrol a “miracle molecule”

Why, no, we never do tire of reading about scientific studies singing the praises of red wine.

The CBS affiliate in Philadelphia reports the latest research out of Duquesne University says the resveratrol found in our beverage of choice worked like a “miracle molecule” when it was tested on lab mice.

“As these animal age, they lose some of their motor coordination,” researcher Jane Cavanaugh tells the network, “very similar as to humans do as they age. And when we gave them the resveratrol, the older mouse has less loss of motor coordination.”

Nondrinkers may prefer to get their resveratrol through grapes or blueberries, CBS notes. In fact, according to the network, a handful of blueberries equals about an entire bottle of wine when it comes to getting your share of the “miracle molecule.”

Hmm. We’ll go ahead and take the bottle.
