Runway to Red Carpet: Celebs Put Their Own Twist on Designer Looks

Los Angeles style is often more casual, less severe than catwalk creations

Ever wonder how some of those incredible runway fashions get translated into the real world? Exhibit A: the Emmys.

The awards show held earlier this week featured a red carpet filled with high-end designs, and although Hollywood’s hottest actresses don’t really count as “real world,” they—or, rather, their stylists—do put their own twist on clothes straight from the catwalk, the Associated Press reports.

California-based designer Monique Lhuillier tells the news service that runway gowns are sometimes nearly unrecognizable by the time they hit the red carpet, taking on a softer, more casual look that’s more relatable to the rest of us.

“You get a sense ... that women don’t want [to be] too perfect or buttoned-up,” she tells AP of Los Angeles style.

Hmm. The Lhuillier dress worn by Ginnifer Goodwin at the TV awards looked pretty darn perfect to us.
