Bradley Cooper (The Hangover) and Jennifer Lawrence (The Hunger Games), above, star in this genre mash-up about mental illness, football and competitive dancing. It’s a risky act, but director David O. Russell (The Fighter) strikes a perfect balance between drama and zany fun. Cooper handles weighty emotions with aplomb, and Lawrence surprises with fine comic timing, but Robert De Niro wins MVP as an Eagles-obsessed dad.—Alison Bailes
