Tom Ford Shanghai Lily Fragrance

One of four fragrances in the designer’s homage to Asia, Atelier d’Orient, Shanghai Lily is a paradox: sensual and easy to wear. Our 2013 Big Beauty Try-On testers were impressed by the scent’s elegance and subtle spiciness, with comments including “Clean and warm,” “Unique and exotic” and “Floral with a kick.” They also loved its staying power. “This scent lasts forever,” said one tester. ($210;

Levi Brown

Marc Jacobs Honey

This upbeat floral won raves for being “light enough for every day.” Several testers said they used it as a before-bed scent (who knew?) because the smell was subtle and comforting (key notes include green pear, honeysuckle, honey and golden vanilla). The only knock: a few found the packaging too cutesy. ($72;

Levi Brown

Chantecaille Pétales Perfume

An unapologetically girly blend of jasmine and tuberose that reminds us of fresh spring flowers ($175;

Aerin Ikat Jasmine

According to designer Aerin Lauder, this fresh fragrance in her new, eponymous collection is akin to jeans and a tee: classic and comfy. ($110;

Fendi L’Acquarossa

This also works for every day, but thanks to dominant rose notes, it’s better described as a skirt-and-stilettos kind of scent. ($98;

Michael Kors Sexy Amber

This mandarin-and-musk-infused is similar to Kors’s signature sheath: subtly sexy and appropriate for work or play. ($95;
