Our lives are complex and involved and if we don’t pause from time to time, we can lose sight of where we may be out of balance. Time with a hobby can be replacing time with our relationships or we have not given enough attention to our finances while we focus on our jobs or careers. I know that I have certainly gotten out of balance when I have focused energies in one area, work and business, for example, and not taken care of my physical and health needs, to the degree that I am satisfied with the attention I am giving my overall health.
I invite you sit back for a moment and scan your life, to look at each area of your life and simply evaluate it. Yes, even those of you who believe you’ve got it pretty well wired, take a moment away from your life, suspending any judgment, really breathe into yourself and evaluate the areas of your life: your career, your relationships (family and friends), your spirituality, emotional and mental well being, your finances and security, education and social involvement, health and nutrition. And as you spend time really thinking about and assessing each area, simply ask yourself, “Am I satisfied?”.
Are you developing and evolving in these areas to your satisfaction? And please, this is not about making you wrong or in any other way judging yourself for your current situations. It’s about being honest with yourself with where you are and what you want for yourself. Where you are is perfect, even if it’s not where you want to be in life. Your life experience has brought you to this time of your life exactly as it was meant to be. Only now, when you consciously take the time to look at the areas of your life, you get to decide how you wish to proceed.
There will probably be a level of discomfort and I’ll talk more another time about making decisions and taking action, but for now, simply evaluate these areas of your life and take note. This is a great place to start for whatever is going to be next. It is also a great place to be really honest with yourself because you deserve to be completely satisfied and happy in every aspect of your life.
It’s difficult for us move forward in our lives when we are out of sorts…out of balance. For yourself and others who care about and depend on you, take time to see where you need to make adjustments. You deserve to thrive in all aspects of your life.
