When you get behind the wheel, pay attention to the driver’s seat. Women are up to 47 percent more likely to be severely injured in a crash than men, even while wearing seat belts, according to a study in the American Journal of Public Health. To protect yourself, adjust your seat so that there are at least 10 inches between the center of your chest and the steering wheel, say experts.
