I Started a Business Employing Stay-At-Home Moms

I graduated cum laude from the University of Georgia, passed the CPA exam on the first try, and earned an MBA from Harvard Business School. When I went to work for global professional services network KPMG, I was quickly assigned my location’s largest client. Later, I took a position with Toys "R" Us and was placed on a fast-track management program.

Then I had children.

I’d always strived to be successful professionally, and held the same standards for myself as a mother. Unfortunately, in the corporate world, I was unable to find a balance between career and family. I opted to start my own practice, serving small businesses with strategic planning, accounting, and tax services.

I eventually hired five other women, all with families, to help serve my client base. I saw many women, mothers just like me, who wanted to stay in the workforce but didn’t know how to find opportunities that would allow them to preserve symmetry in their lives. Because of this obstacle, many mothers leave the workforce altogether. At the same time, I noticed corporations were struggling to find high-caliber employees. These observations led me to a distinctive calling. I wanted to create meaningful opportunities for a much larger community of professionals raising families, and to continue serving clients with excellence. I also wanted to fundamentally change the way companies fill their intermittent staffing needs.
