Would You Choose Sleep Over Sex?

A new survey finds a whopping 79 percent of women would rather snooze

A little mood lighting. Some soft tunes on the iPod. Maybe a glass of wine. Oh, yes, we’re totally ready to . . . sleep.

A new survey from the Better Sleep Council finds 79 percent of women (and 61 percent of Americans overall) would choose getting a good night’s sleep over sex.

According to a press release, the survey also shows we’re so tired, we’ll sleep in some pretty odd places. In fact, 11 percent of us doze off in a place that’s not our bed.

“We were stunned by some of the survey responses,” the council’s Karin Mahoney says in the release. “One man fell asleep on a rooftop. Another man fell asleep while interviewing a job candidate. There was a teacher who fell asleep at the podium in front of her class. Clearly, people are sleeping just about everywhere except where they should be—in their own beds. And they’re likely not realizing the critical role the right mattress plays in achieving the quality of life that only good, healthful sleep can bring.”

Cancel our appointments. We’re going mattress shopping today. And, honey, you’re welcome.
