Yes, my friends, after years spent shuffling around in ballet flats, it’s time for me to take a new lover. The loafer is back. I know, I KNOW, reunited and it feels so good.
It’s all about comfort, my friends, because much as I’d love to be the gal who thinks six-inch heels are as comfy as slippers, when it comes to errand-running, subway-riding, and multiple-city-block-schlepping, I need me some flats.
This season loads of retailers have jumped on board, and so there is much to consider. Look for metal accents, texture (calf hair, tweed) and a rainbow of colors, and go for a more feminine silhouette for your starter pair (more like a smoking loafer…almost, dare I say, slipper-esque…void of all that late 1980’s early 1990’s chunky-ness) and go from there. Happy feet are here again.
