I understand what it means to re-invent yourself after 40.  When my 22 year career on Wall Street ended I was devastated.  I was consumed with not knowing what I was going to do next.  At 48 was it too late to reinvent myself and even if I could – how?  I had attached so much of my identity to my work and now that was gone.  I tried to put on a brave face but inside I was terrified of becoming old and just plain  invisible.

My psyche was badly damaged.  When that little voice in your head is screaming you've failed you really begin to believe it.  I remember the hackles on the back of my neck going up every time someone would ask me how it felt to be retired. Retirement was the last thing on my agenda.  Every one of their questions felt like a dagger in my heart -   that's how sensitive I was. 

It didn’t help that during this awful time I was also starting my journey into menopause. Those hot flashes and sleepless night were just confirmation that I was getting old.  What was I going to lose next – my looks, my sex drive, my health or my mind?

My tsunami of change lasted one year.  When I could no longer stand wallowing in self pity I made the conscious decision to take back my power.  To do that I needed to get a lot of my questions answered. So, I started out on another journey. This time it was to find out everything I could about menopause, staying healthy, looking fabulous and most importantly filling up my spiritual reservoir.

Today, my life is very different.  I feel fabulous and have a renewed energy and passion for life.  I found the answers I was looking for and am now happily sharing them with other women who are going through their own tsunamis of change. As an author, speaker and change advocate I help women over 40, 50 and 60 find their answers, get support, and rediscover how powerful they really are.
