About Linda Holt
What do you do for work?
- I paint. There has been a lot of commission work over the years in addition to regular gallery shows and sales.
When were you born?
- 1948, almost midnight, almost a Leap Year baby.
I consider myself an expert on...
- very little. I try to maintain that child-like sense of wonder and discovery.
What I'd most like to reinvent about my life...
- cannot be narrowly defined. Reinvention is an ongoing process for any artist. The impact seems greatest when it involves an unconscious or semi-conscious effort.
My favorite indulgence is...
- travel. I can never get enough of it.
More about Linda Holt
Working from a studio in the storied seaport of Gloucester that is home to America’s oldest art-colony, Linda Holt has been called the John Singer Sargent of dog portraiture. New York Times art critic William Zimmer said, “Holt’s paintings reveal an innate sense of glamour. She is a top dog painter where dog likenesses that are also art is concerned. A kind of edginess amid ostensible innocence is a quality of her best dog paintings.” Her collection of vibrant, bold and moving oil paintings of koi, rain forests, water lilies and dogs are also reproduced as museum-quality cards and boxed as a unique gift idea.
