Carmina Pérez is a writer, speaker and digital media marketing consultant. She is a veteran of the internet, television and financial services industries, and a social media expert. Her blog,  Mogulette-in-the-making (moguletteblog.com), which she created in Feb. 2007, has been featured in the New York Times twice and focuses on tools and resources for businesses, solo practitioners, and freelancers. In addition to writing and consulting, Carmina regularly presents workshops on emerging web technologies.

Carmina started her career in financial services, where she spent 14 years in sales and marketing as a Vice President at Lehman Brothers. Looking for a more creative environment, she then transitioned into broadcast television and worked as an editorial producer at CNN Financial News for 6 1/2 years. Her duties included following and researching the developing stories of the day, finding experts to comment on them, and going on video shoots to gather the visual elements for the news package. That's where she honed her skills in news gathering, writing and video production. From there she moved on to the internet, writing articles on personal finance for AOL Latino and later editing their welcome page and news channel for a year. She learned about HTML, web infrastructure, and page layout using titles, text, captions and images.

In her current consulting practice, Carmina works closely with selected web developers and designers to ensure her clients’ sites are set up to offer easy social interaction and user friendliness. She then helps create content strategies that have the effect of attracting top quality traffic to the website.  This is accomplished by tactical editing of text, video, and images as well as monitoring and maintaining the clients’ presence in the various social networks.
