As a journalist and book author I'm drawn to topics that impact women's health and well being and give me the opportunity to stir a greater national dialogue in long neglected areas. Most recently I published The Autoimmune Epidemic: Bodies Gone Haywire in a World out of Balance and the Cutting Edge Science that Promises Hope (Touchstone/Simon and Schuster, 2008), an investigation into the reasons behind today’s rise in rates of autoimmune diseases -- an epidemic of great concern to women of midlife (the group most affected). I'm also the author of Does Anybody Else Look Like Me? A Parent’s Guide to Raising Multiracial Children (Perseus, 2003).
In addition to writing books and magazine features I lecture around the country at wellness and medical conferences. I also speak to independent schools about meeting the needs of multiracial and multicultural student populations.

I'm especially happy to write for More -- I'm very proud of the work my editor and I do together -- delving into topics that aren't always easy for women to talk about openly. I'm especially proud of this recent series on chronic illness and women. I hope you enjoy it.
