The BizWorld Foundation program began as a grassroots movement targeting classrooms in Silicon Valley in an effort to teach students the important entrepreneurship, business, and financial skills that many of them were not being taught at home. From initial funding, to marketing campaigns, and financial statements, the program allowed students to not only understand how business works, but enabled them to experience it first-hand. As more educators learned about BizWorld’s hands-on, project-based approach to learning, the need to expand our efforts quickly became apparent.
In 1997, The BizWorld Foundation was created to make our programs more accessible to schools across the country. In 2003 The BizWorld Foundation added to its program offerings by creating a second curriculum, BizWiz, in which students learn the basics of money management by playing the roles of analysts, controllers, and traders. Today, The BizWorld Foundation has reached over 170,000 students in all fifty states and eighty-four countries.
