Every now and then, it's nice to be reminded that true love and old-fashioned romance exist outside of Hollywood and fairy tales, which is why we asked our readers to share their proposal stories with us. The result was just the jolt of mushy, lovey-dovey sweetness that we needed to thaw our cold, cold hearts. Check out these proposal stories from our readers and just try not to let out a big ol' "Aww." Feel free to share yours as well!
The week’s most exciting, surprising, and bizarre moments in fashion brought to you in delecta
There’s lots to love about Emma Stone—her gorgeous skin (which we hope never ever sees the inside of a tanning bed), her luscious red hair, and her ability to make out with Ryan Gosling without inspiring our hatred. But what we really admire about Emma is her love of wearing bright, punchy makeup. Instead of being hindered by her flaming red hair, she complements it with colorful shadows and lipsticks.
Awards season is ramping up, and at this week's People's Choice Awards, the truly interesting choices were some celebrities' choices of outfits. Although the People's Choice Awards are not known for being the most fashionable of celebrity events, most attendees looked fine. OK. Alright-ish. But a few stars walked the red carpet wearing some highly questionable attire.
We're so in love with OPI's amazing Holland-inspired spring/summer 2012 collection, we're this close to donning a pair of wooden shoes and indulging in some very festive braids. Seriously—it's that good. This assortment of edgy pastels and grown-up shimmers is vibrant yet subdued, grown-up yet playful, and the perfect accompaniment to spring fashion. "Holland has a very unique, vibrant beauty to match its open-minded nature," explained OPI Executive VP Suzi Weiss-Fischmann. "Spring is the season of color, and the Holland Collection provides an array of pink, coral, and orange hues that capture this energy."
Too much shimmer can make a face look greasy and mask-like, but just the right amount in just the right place can make anyone look luminous and radiant. The secret is choosing a single area of the face to highlight. Such is the case with Margot Robbie of ABC’s Pan Am who transformed a minimal-makeup look into something special with just a touch of shimmer on the cheekbones.
The Streeps and Clooneys and DiCaprios of Hollywood need no introduction, but 2011 saw so many breakout stars, there are sure to be a few unfamiliar faces accepting awards this year. Well, you won’t be very much fun at the office water cooler if your response to every Oscar- or Globes-related discussion is a meek, “I don’t know who that is.” Even if you never ventured into a multiplex in 2011, here’s everyone you need to know this awards season.
The holidays are over, so let’s all agree to slowly back away from the glitter. In fact, let’s just clean the slate and start the new year with makeup and hair looks that are simple, natural, fresh, and easy to achieve. At the season finale of The X Factor in Los Angeles, Zooey Deschanel kept things simple and low-key—a look that’s appropriate anywhere and anytime.
