I was born and bred in one of the most lovely, interesting, gritty, cultural cities in the world....New Orleans. I traveled throughout Europe as a teen, as my father lived in England so my big sis and I would visit him every summer starting when I was 11 and ending when I was 17. I learned so much while visiting and traveling Europe......this was in the '80's, so you can imagine how cool I became returning back to the states with the latest trends in clothes and music since Europe was (and probably still is) so much more advanced in the coolness factor. I remember going home and raving about this fab group I saw on Top of the Pops named Wham and how hot George Michael's was....even in those little bitty shorts.....I was 13.....what did I know?!? But growing up in New Orleans was the best. We used to hang out in St. Louis Cemetary #1 when I was a teenager and "experimenting....a la Easy Rider"......we saw some pretty freaky stuff out there. I wasn't one of the popular kids, like a cheerleader.....but I was popular because I was different and interesting....I didn't fit into a mold. I guess I still don't, which is a good thing in my opinion. Remember, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, no matter how stupid or ill-conceived it may be. I left New Orleans as soon as I graduated high school.....I just had to move to Florida. Don't ask me why....I decided my fate with my best friend while we were in 8th grade eating Domino's pizza on a Saturday morning after partying with beer we swiped from my older sister....we were contemplating our future, writing it all down on loose leaf paper (and yes, I still have the paper)....she would marry the love of her life (at the time) - (it didn't happen) - and have a gazillion babies (she had 5 - so I guess that kind of counts), while I would move to Florida (it did happen) and get rich by writing best-selling novels (didn't happen)......But I did get married (and divorced) and had the two most wonderful children on the planet, possibly the universe. Seriously, they are beyond funny and smart, they are empathetic, strong, insightful souls that made my life complete. They live with their dad (long story), about 5 minutes away...so I do see them whenever I want....but it's still not enough. I've been living with my Mama and stepdad for the past year and 1 month because my Mama is disabled and she needed to have someone with her 24/7 while my stepdad's at work. Now that she is feeling better, physically at least, I am in the process of opening my own photography business.....I stumbled across this site and thought this would be a great place to network and meet some cool people with thought provoking ideas and possibly make a few friends in the process. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you've read this "profile" and you think we might have some commonalities. If not, no worries.....I'll never know, right?
