After trying teaching at the high school and college levels, teaching English in China and running my own bike shop for ten years, I've settled into coaching as my profession since 1994. I particularly enjoy helping athletes with weight loss, completion of charity athletic events and elite competition at all levels. A few of my clients have won medals at national and world championships, but I'm really happiest when my clients are happy with their own performance at whatever level. In my own athletic career, I earned a dozen victories while racing bicycles for over 15 years, biked unsupported across the U.S, and completed several XC ski marathons. I returned to grad school in my 30s to study sports medicine, physiology, psychology, nutrition, and biomechanics, graduating with a masters degree the same month my son was born. I am particualrly proud of my accomplishments as a writer: Co-author of Bike Racing 101, and a regular column for ROAD magazine. I live with my wife, son and step daughter in Walnut Creek, California.
