At 49, I’m a work in progress. I’ve made some good and some really poor choices, lost and gained 10 pounds 10 times, been courageous and humiliated, deliriously happy and laying on the kitchen floor sobbing. Somewhere along the way it dawned on me that I was at the middle of my life and I am just fine. I took inventory and realized nearly everything that I count as a blessing – my kids, my career, my health, my savings account – I had made possible. I didn’t just get lucky (though I realize I am), with small steps and a few leaps of faith, I gave luck a chance to happen.
Starting a blog and posting here is my latest small step to making a lifelong dream into a reality; to be a writer. Or at least to say I tried. Along the way, I’ll share observations and lessons learned from someone who’s been there. And by there, I mean right here in the middle of it. I’m a New England girl, smart, impatient, with a love of the outdoors and enough humility to laugh at myself first.
