I'm an author and am just SO EXCITED! I published my very first book, "Columbo & Lucy, Living the Dream." It's a very Erma-Bombeck-like examination of family life, warts and all, a collection of some of our silliest stories [PublishAmerica].
Borrowing from my book, then (from the author bio): I think I was born married, what?, almost 39 years ago. It is my priviledge to be the mother of four grown children and an elated grandmother of 11 (soon to be 12; newest grandson should arrive mid April, 2012). Most of my life's crowning moments and most of what I write about has to do with relationships, family especially. My family has always been my full-time occupation. Everything else I have ever done, then, has been part-time.
As a writer, I've written and published various works, both freelance and as an area newspaper correspondent. Twice I've been published nationally, both times in small venues. I've also worked designing computerized ads for local newspapers.
In early marriage I was once employed as a surgical assistant with an oral surgery group. Years later, when my eldest kids became teens, I served as an award (and scholarship) winning Youth Ministry Director, recipient of the 1991 Indiana Youth Investment Award.
I've managed a pet store, made gift baskets for a gourmet gift shop; sold cute clothing in an adorable little local boutique; and over decades have successfully held various office/secretarial/clerical positions besides.
I'm a heartfelt Catholic convert -- one who has found real depth, sustenance, and treasure in her faith.
I tell people all the time, if you really want to know me you've just gotta meet my family, for my family and my faith -- these are my world!
And through it all, I have written. I've been a writer all my life.
