Study: Vibrators Giving Out Good Vibrations

Researchers say most Americans have positive feelings toward the sex toys.

In what may very well be the—ahem—feel-good story of the month, a new survey finds most Americans have warm fuzzies when it comes to their views on vibrators.

Yep, out of more than 3,000 men and women between the ages of 18 and 60, about half “agreed” or “strongly agreed” with positive statements about vibrators, and just 10 percent said they felt negatively about the sex toys, LiveScience reports.

So, what are all the good vibrations about? Better orgasms, less pain, more arousal and sexual satisfaction, researchers tell the website, which adds that in a 2009 survey, lead researcher Debra Herbenick, associate director at Indiana University’s Center for Sexual Health Promotion, also found 53 percent of women and 45 percent of men had used vibrators.

For those who fear a woman using a vibrator will make a man feel inferior, get over it. LiveScience reports a whopping 70 percent of the men surveyed say they strongly disagree that the toys intimidate them.

And for those who are still unsure about bringing a vibrator into the bedroom, just turn to the wisdom of—who else?—the women of Sex and the City.

Carrie: “I’m not going to replace a man with some battery-operated device.”

Miranda: “You haven’t met ‘The Rabbit.’ ”
