Sorry, lady, but you messed with the people’s chance to read about and watch the Cullen family. You’re lucky you got off easy with a night in the slammer.

That’s right, the Albuquerque Journal reports that Lori Teel, a mother of five young children, was cuffed and arrested at her home in Portales, New Mexico. She was taken to jail, where she spent the night for allegedly failing to return The Twilight Saga: New Moon two-DVD set and Twilight the book to the Portales Public Library.

According to the newspaper, not paying her overdue fine of $35.98 resulted in a municipal court summons. After Teel failed to appear, warrants for her arrest were issued. But Teel and her lawyer tell the Journal that the summons and warrants were sent to an address she hadn’t lived at since she was a kid, so she didn’t receive them. (The police were responding to a disturbance at her house when they noticed the warrants, the Journal reports.)

The charges were soon dismissed, but Teel is considering legal action, the newspaper adds.

We’re guessing she won’t be reading any more of the Twilight books. That’s OK. We liked The Hunger Games better, anyway.
