3 Ways to Rock Accent Braids
Accent braids add a cute and casual feeling to so many hairstyles. Here are three different ways to add a braid to a bun and a ponytail, and when your hair is down. Try rocking one of these accent braids—there's something for every occasion!
Turn your favorite styles up a notch with accent braids. Here are three of my favorites!
1. Snake Braid
Starting with your hair down and with any texture, part your hair on the side. On the side with less hair, pick up a small section of hair. Divide it into three parts and do a classic three-strand braid. To create the snake look, hold the middle strand and pull up the two strands on the sides to create a zigzag pattern. Once you've pulled it up, secure the end with an elastic and secure the braid under the hair with two bobby pins for extra hold.
2. Side Bun
A side bun is always cute, and two accent braids make it even cuter! Start by gathering all your hair to one side and make a low, side ponytail. Braid two fishtail braids in the ponytail and then twist all the hair and the braids around the base of the ponytail making sure the braids are showing. Secure the hair with bobby pins.
3. Pony with Accent
Get some texture in your hair by curling it—it doesn't have to be neat or perfect in any way. Make a side part and then pick up some hair to create a three-strand braid. Secure the braid with a temporary elastic. Gather all the hair, including the braid, into a ponytail and secure the ponytail with an elastic. Remove the temporary elastic.
