How to Do a Messy Braid

For effortless style, try making a mess—a messy braid, that is. Watch this hair tutorial for all you need to know about creating a perfectly imperfect hairstyle, that's both casual and chic.

Tease your roots to create a little volume at your crown, the perfect base for this messy braid. Decide which side you want your braid to be on and pull all of your hair over, securing it in a low side ponytail. Start creating your messy look by making a basic braid with an elastic at the end. Pull at the braid to create little stray hairs all over. You can pull out pieces around your face, as well. In an upward motion, gently rake your fingers through the braid, to create more of a nest of hair. Don't rush to take out your messy masterpiece before bed--bed hair is always messy and the messier, the better.
