Thick, lustrous Asian hair can be resistant to curling. Here are a few easy steps to follow to create long-lasting curl with volume and bounce.
A lot of Asian women have long, thick hair that can be resistant to curling. Here are a few easy techniques to curl Asian hair for thick, bouncy waves and curls.
1. Spray a thickening hair spray all over the hair to add staying power to your curl and help create lift at the root of your hair. I recommend using this all-in-one hair spray and a medium-sized–barrel curling iron with a clamp. Using this technique also shields your hair from the heat of the curling iron.
2. Separate hair into small sections, and begin curling hair in a backward motion. The key is to work in small sections, allowing for more heat to be distributed throughout the hair. Tease hair at the roots where extra volume may be needed, such as at the crown and sides.
3. Finish curling all your hair, and brush out your hair slightly with your fingers to loosen any tighter curls. The finished look should be long, free-flowing curls that cascade softly along your shoulders.
4. Use pomade to polish away any flyaways. Coat your style with a fine mist holding spray, and your ‘do should last for hours.
