Finally! The Secret to Your Curls Lasting All Day

Half the trouble with curls is getting them to stay. When you want them to last, follow the steps below for a look that will let you dance the night away.

Are you tired of your hair not holding a curl? Do you spend a lot of time styling your hair, only for your curls to drop and disappear in minutes? Follow the steps below for curls that will last all day.

Make Curls Last: Step 1

1. Prep your damp hair.
While your hair is still damp, but after being towel dried, apply a mousse product that suits your hair type. I used Full Frame 07 All-Over Volumizing Mousse from Redken. This step will give your hair some texture and grip which will help your curls last longer. Make sure to use a heat protectant to prevent damage before you blow dry.

2. Prep your dry hair.
After your hair is dry and ready to be curled, separate your hair into sections. Before you curl your hair, spray a lightweight hairspray on the strand. This will help the curl to stay in place. For a strong hold that will still be soft to the touch, I suggest using Elnett Satin Extra Strong Hold Hair Spray from L'Oreal.

3. Use the right curling tools.
If your hair has difficulty holding a curl, it´s worth investing in a good hot tool. My favorites are from Amika, but lots of brands make quality tools. Don't choose a curler with a large barrel, smaller ones help the curls keep their shape longer. A 1-inch barrel is a good size. If you're looking for a tool that does double duty, a flat iron is a good choice for all of your styling needs.

4. Let the curls cool.
It´s important to let your curls cool. After you curl a section roll it up and clip it against your head.Leave it to dry like that for about 15 minutes. If you don't have time to wait, blow dry with cool air on the curls.

5. Apply the finishing touches.
Spray some lightweight hairspray on the curls one last time. If your hair is really difficult to curl, blow dry the curls on a low setting just after you sprayed the hairspray.

Follow these steps and your curls are sure to stay in place all day and all night! For more tutorials like this, follow Ulrika on Yet Another Beauty Site.
