Starburst Hair Is The Juicy New Trend For Your Tresses

Hair colorist Kayla Boyer introduced Starburst hair on Instagram last week, and who knew that candy would look so good on hair?

We've seen hair color inspiration from just about everywhere as of late. Whether it's our coffee drinks, nature's finest rocks, or our elementary school art projects, we were pretty sure we had seen it all. But alas, Instagram hair colorists will never cease to amaze us because they have found yet another avenue of color inspiration: candy.

That's right, Starburst hair, created by stylist Kayla Boyer, is the latest hair color trend to hit our radar, and it really is an uncanny resemblance. The look layers pink, orange, and yellow dye to create a multicolored neon ombré. And while we can appreciate that they included all of the flavors, we're going to go ahead and call out how appropriate it is that the majority of the base is pink, following suit with being the best of the Starburst flavors.

Thanks Jamie 💞 • • For this creation I lightened her with @pravana #purelightpowerlightener with 20vol, and overlayed with #pravanavivids in neon pink & locked in pink at the base, and melted in neon orange & orange, and yellow & neon yellow through the ends. Check out my processing photo for my pattern! Thanks guys comment/like if you love it 😍 • • • #pravana #pravanavivids #colortrak #colortraksoc #SOC2017 #wewantcandy #hotonbeauty #hotforbeauty #colormelt #vibrant #vividhair #authentichairarmy #fckinghair #saloncentric #haircolor #hairporn #hairtrend #vegas_nay #allure #hudabeauty #hairandmakeupbykaylaboyer

Similar to many of the other rainbow-like trends we have seen come across our feeds so far this year (tangerine hair, confetti hair, Lisa Frank hair, etc.), Boyer explained on one of her Instagram posts that she lightened the model's hair before applying the extra-bright colors. Next, she used Pravana Vivids hair colors in neon pink and locked in pink as the base. To finish it off, she melted in the neon orange, orange, yellow, and neon yellow colors throughout the hair. (Is it weird that we're salivating right now?)

Definitely don't try to DIY this juicy look on your own. If you do want to give it a try, however, we recommend taking Boyer's sweet creation into your colorist and letting he/she work their magic!

TBH, this look satisfies our sweet tooth ~almost~ as much as the real thing.
