Try This "Knotty" Twist on the Topknot

Tie your hair in knots—literally—to get the perfect topknot. This sleek style takes less than 60 seconds, making it a no-brainer for early morning classes or meetings.

A topknot is one of the quickest, chicest ways to tame long locks. You can wear one to work, school, the gym, or on an evening out. There are lots of variations on the classic topknot—from sleek and precise to big and bouncy—but this is a totally new twist on the topknot. The look works best with long hair of just about any texture. Although, if you have super slick, straight locks, you may want to give them a spritz of texturing spray to add a bit of volume and help the hair grab. Now let's get started!

To get this knotted look, first put your hair in a high ponytail. Split the pony into two sections and, from tail to tip, tie your hair in knots. Tie as many knots as you can before you hit the ends of your hair. Then wrap your knotted hair around the elastic and pin in place with some bobby pins. (BTW, chances are you're using bobby pins wrong. Check out the right way to use those little suckers!) Pull at the bun to loosen it a bit, hit it with a bit of lightweight hairspray and you're out the door!
