This Instagram Proves Over-Plucked Eyebrows Will Never Be Cool Again
by Bethany Lozier
Yes, over plucking your brows was certainly the vogue thing to do in 1992, but thanks to Instagram account @historyofoverplucking we can all agree the thicker the brows, the better.
2016 was clearly the year the ’90s reigned supreme. We saw ’90s staples return to the fashion scene in the form of overalls, slip dresses, and even Courtney Love herself helmed a very grunge-inspired fashion line. Though some ’90s beauty trends like butterfly clips made their long-awaited return, we’re really glad over-plucked eyebrows have not made a resounding comeback.
Well, sort of. While most beauty experts never recommend getting overzealous with tweezers, most ’90s babes said “eff that” and went ham with over-plucking their precious brows. Whatever, but ouch. Thanks to the hilarious Instagram account @historyofoverplucking, we can now collectively agree how horrifying over plucking your brows truly is.
Just take a look at Ginger Spice and Posh Spice’s overly thin brows.
We’ll bet those brows are nice and spicy now. How about some vintage Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Pitt (remember, they dated!)?
Notice how Brad’s brows are thick and luscious and Gwyneth’s are almost nowhere to be seen. And even ’90s supermodel Christy Turlington fell victim to some rather skinny brows.
At least they’re artistic, right? Even the ever-fabulous Scarlett Johansson had her bout with some barely there brows.
Sweet eyebrow piercing, too. Even Lil Kim can’t believe how many over plucking sins she committed.
Talk about tragic. ’90s heartthrobs Kate Moss and Leonardo DiCaprio certainly kept up with the hottest fashions, even non-existent eyebrows.
Well, Leo’s brows are certainly still intact, but we can’t say the same for Kate. And who could forget the glory of Buffy’s barely-there brows?
She may slay demons, but those brows aren’t slaying anything else. And last but certainly not least, we have the ever-stylish Gwen Stefani’s stellar brow game.
This is peak ’90s brow perfection. Be sure to check out @historyofoverplucking for even more over-plucked eyebrows sure to cause both horror and hilarity.
