Spring is here, but — thanks to New York Fashion Week — we're already looking forward to the fabulous beauty trends set for fall 2015. Here are 18 runway hairstyles and makeup trends worth getting excited about now.
hair: sleek and shiny
This polished style seen on the Donna Karan fall runway features a deep side part and super-luscious hair. To get this look, use a large round brush when blow-drying to create tension and smooth your strands. Follow up with a flat iron to tame flyaways, but use it sparingly to avoid losing volume.
hair: sleek and shiny
This sleek style for Rachel Zoe can also be created with a round brush and flat iron. Mist a light-hold hairspray onto hair after styling to keep locks looking smooth throughout day.
hair: sleek and shiny
To create the glamorous hairstyle from the Prabal Gurung show, opt for a severe middle part and brushed-out waves.
hair: tousled waves
We loved the effortless beauty at the Ralph Lauren runway show, especially these “I woke up like this” waves. For a similar style, twirl small sections of hair around a finger when blow-drying to create natural texture.
hair: tousled waves
The Novis collection featured textured bends, which you can re-create with a 1¾-inch and ¾-inch double-barrel curling iron. Using this unique iron, wrap random sections of hair around the larger barrel and then around the smaller barrel for a naturally waved look.
hair: tousled waves
We are, of course, obsessed with the delicate bling underneath the Rodarte models' eyes, but those carefree locks are amazing too. Take a 1½-inch curling iron and curl random pieces of hair, leaving the roots and ends untouched. Make sure to run your fingers through the waves at the end for a laid-back feel.
hair: smooth ponytails
We love the idea of a sleek, chic ponytail for fall. Models in the Carolina Herrera show wore slicked-back styles, which can be recreated using a brush to smooth back slightly damp hair into a mid-ponytail. Finish with a strong-hold hairspray to lock this look in place.
hair: smooth ponytails
Smooth, low ponytails are fashionable, too, as we saw on the Edun runway. To get this style, create a straight side part that is even with the end of an eyebrow and finger-comb hair into a ponytail that rests at the nape of your neck.
hair: smooth ponytails
Misha Nonoo models wore a sleeker version of the low ponytail at Fashion Week, and we love that this look used bobby pins to secure face-framing layers while giving the ‘do an even more tailored feel. Brush straightened hair into a ponytail at the base of the neck, and use hairspray to complete the style.
makeup: barely there
Say hello to fresh-faced looks inspired by festivals for fall, seen on the models at the Tommy Hilfiger presentation. Keep your face makeup natural with a soft pink blush and lip balm that complement your skin tone. Using a black eye pencil, smudge liner onto the upper lash line for effortlessly sultry eyes.
makeup: barely there
The makeup worn by Michael Kors’s models took a sun-kissed approach to natural-looking beauty. Find a non-shimmery bronzer with a brownish — not orange — undertone, and dust it across the areas of the face that are naturally hit by the sun.
makeup: barely there
For the no-makeup makeup look seen during the Jason Wu show, use a light CC cream to even out your complexion and a bit of bronzer to add warmth to the cheekbones. Highlight the eyes with natural-looking mascara on the top lashes, but leave the bottom eyelashes untouched.
makeup: bold eyes, nude lips
Models for Charlotte Ronson wore dark eye makeup balanced with a nude lip — a classic nighttime look we love. To complement the intensity of the eyes, use an eyebrow pencil to fill in your brows.
makeup: bold eyes, nude lips
Taking this trend up a notch, the Libertine show featured extremely smoky eyes that remind us of Avril Lavigne. Though you may not create a look quite this severe, do remember to keep everything else simple when creating a dark eye makeup look.
makeup: bold eyes, nude lips
At the DKNY show, natural makeup with a wow factor was the theme. For this eye-catching look, use liquid liner to line the area near the eyes.
makeup: fearless lip color
We love this feathery-lash, bold-lip combo from the Fatema Fardan presentation. To get this fall-approved look, use individual false eyelashes to add natural volume to your lash line. Then choose a berry-colored lip stain to create a look that will last all day with few touch-ups.
makeup: fearless lip color
Taylor Swift isn’t the only one who can rock the classic red lip flawlessly; models on the Phillip Lim runway proved that. Make sure your bold lipstick stays in place by first lining the lips with a lip liner in a coordinating color.
makeup: fearless lip color
Taking an edgier approach, the vampy makeup at the Marc Jacobs show featured matching eye shadow and plum-colored lips. To avoid looking clownish, keep your face makeup subtle.
