This Badass Rihanna-Inspired Makeup Tutorial Is Stunning
Rihanna is known to slay the red carpet, and this beauty look will make you look as stunning as RiRi herself.
Rihanna is known to totally slay on the red carpet, and her 2016 VMAs ensemble didn't disappoint. Her three (!!!) performances were utterly incredible, but her beauty look was just as memorable.
YouTuber BeautyByGabbie recreated her seriously gorgeous VMAs makeup, and we just can't get enough. Here are seven steps to recreating the perfect look this season.
Step 1: Prime Those Lids
Dab your fave primer on the tops of your lids, and extend out to just under the brow bone using a shadow brush.
Try it: Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion, Sephora
Step 2: Start With The Shadow
Start with a light gold shadow over the primer to act as a base. Next, apply a deeper brown to the crease and outer corner using a fluffy shadow brush. Apply multiple layers for a deeper, darker look. Pull the shadow out past the outer corner for added drama. Apply a bronze to the lid for a little bit of shimmer, and highlight the brow bone using a white, shimmery shadow.
Try it: Sephora Collection Pro Warm Palette, Sephora
Step 3: Add A Shimmery Pigment
After wetting a stiffer shadow brush with some good ol' H2O (dampen don't soak), dip the brush into a shimmery gold pigment, and apply that to the center of the lid to make your eyes truly glisten. Try to avoid the outermost and innermost corners.

Step 4: Line The Lashes
Use the same deeper brown shadow to line the lower lash line using a liner brush, and use a brown kohl liner to line the upper and lower waterlines. Make a very thin line on the upper lid, and smudge using a liner brush.
Try it: Rimmel London Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Pencil, Amazon
Step 5: Apply The Mascara — No Falsies Needed!
Rihanna's lashes were very natural — no falsies are needed for this one! Simply load on the mascara, and you'll be good to go.
Step 6: Contour, Highlight, Repeat
Rihanna's cheekbones nearly stole the show. Use a bronzer to give those cheekbones some "oomph" and continue it up and around your hairline. Don't forget to add a little bit of blusher on the cheeks. (A peach shade is perfect.) Finally, contour like crazy. Those cheekbones are going to be dazzling, and as Gabbie says, you can never have too much highlighter.

Step 7: Blend Your Lip Shades
Gabbie combined the Kourt K Kylie lip kit with Mac shade Pure Heroin, using Smashbox's Insta-Matte on top to give her lips a final, less shiny finish. Of course, you can experiment to find the best shade that works for you.

And with that, your badass Rihanna look is totally set.
