The Best Drugstore Makeup: All the Bargain Products We Swear By!
Drugstore makeup has a special place in my makeup-mental heart. After all, it's the first makeup that most of us are able to get our hands on. I remember me and my friend picking out CoverGirl eye shadows that we would share—frosty silver, shimmery pink, lilac. And let's not forget Bonne Bell! Can I get a what what for Dr. Pepper lip balm? Nostalgia aside, there are some really great gems to be found in the aisles of your local Walgreen's or Target.
Here are a few cheap makeup items whose quality far outshines their prices.
1. L’Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick
I am going to sound like a reminiscent creep yet again, but my mom always wore L’Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick in Plum Brulee, and I love that L’Oreal has kept not only the color but the scent and packaging style. I use to love opening my mom's lipstick with the key-like packaging and smelling it. Now that I'm a lipstick-wearing adult, I love Fairest Nude and the orange-toned British Red.
2. Milani Baked Blush
This blush offers greater pigment payoff. I love the blush color Rose d’ Oro, and I’ve heard Luminoso is a great NARS Orgasm substitute. These don’t appear shimmery on, but rather glowy, and the application is silky and buildable.
3. Milani Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadow
This is a great affordable eyeshadow you can apply with your fingers. These have a unique texture that glides on like gel and looks like a powder and their pigmentation is bananas! I love their metallic shades but they have matte finishes too.
4. Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner
If you’re a gel liner girl, this is one of the blackest blacks that glides on easily and really stays put. I love the consistency, wear time and the fact that this doesn’t dry out like other gel liners I own. I like Blackest Black, but it also comes in several other shades like eggplant, brown and charcoal.
5. Maybelline The Falsies Mascara and Maybelline Lash Discovery
I love both these drugstore mascaras and I've used them for years. The Falsies creates super long, luxurious lashes without being clumpy. Lash Discovery has the perfect tiny brush for lower lashes and I opt for the waterproof formula as well.
6. Maybelline Color Tattoo 24HR Cream Shadows
This is a product I've blogged about numerous times because I just can't get over how they absolutely don't crease. They also make an awesome all-over wash of color and an excellent base over which to layer powder eye shadow. If you don't want to fork out the money for Make Up For Ever Aqua Creams or MAC Paint Pots, these would be an excellent alternative.
7. Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms
If you want to rock the matte lip trend, look no further than your local drugstore. These Revlon balms are a total dead-ringer for Tarte’s pricier LipSurgence Matte Lip Tints. The colors range from nudes to vivid brights and the formula doesn’t feel dry or chalky as some matte lip colors can. Shameless, Showy and Audacious are some of my favorite brights.
8. e.l.f. Cream Blush Palette
This is a recent drugstore cheek color I’ve fallen totally in love with. The formula is creamy without being sticky or oily and blends into skin seamlessly. I love layering the colors for a multidimensional cheek and using the creams on lips too!
9. L’Oreal True Match Lumi
If you have dry skin or prefer a dewier look for your foundation, this is my top drugstore pick hands down. This foundation truly makes skin look glowing and healthy and offers great coverage. The shades are broken into warm, neutral and cool tones so you're sure to find a match.
10. Eco Tools Bamboo Powder Brush So Soft
It is literally so plush, so fluffy, so yes! Not only is this line cruelty-free and eco-friendly, but their makeup brushes feel like a little baby kitten's fur. Totally synthetic and totally perfect for dusting loose powder!
