Best Phone Apps for Beauty Lovers

We're more connected than ever with our smartphones. Did you know that your beauty routine can also be streamlined and simplified via an app and a tap-tap? Some of the best beauty resources aren't found in the makeup aisle or behind the beauty counter; rather, they're available on your phone. And the best part? They're all free. These the best phone apps for beauty lovers!

Perhaps my favorite go-to app, Beautylish is part magazine, part store, part product reviews, and all inspiration. Their ever-changing editorial section constantly teaches me something new! It’s also a great resource to buy off-the-beaten-path brands like rmsbeauty, Paw Palette, Wayne Goss, and more.

The popular website Bellashoot is now also a comprehensive app with tutorials, reviews, and a community of other makeup bellas to network with. It has elements that remind me of both Pinterest and Instagram, so you can’t go wrong there!

L’Oreal Makeup Genius

This app definitely has the most “whoa” factor of all. Upload a selfie ,and the app actually overlays makeup looks onto your face in real time. You can try out that cat-eye you’re too scared to test-drive, and once you realize you look awesome, purchase the L’Oreal products used to create it! Fun tip: The app doesn’t discriminate, so if you’re bored sometime, try uploading a pic of your husband or boyfriend!

Makeup Alley

Trying to decide whether or not to pick up that new mascara? Look no further than the OG of beauty-product review sites. I’ve used the Makeup Alley site for almost a decade, and the app puts a huge library of reviews in the palm of your hand. No more impulse purchases!

Plum Perfect

If you don’t have time to visit a beauty counter or store, you can still get product and color palette suggestions from the comfort of home! Plum Perfect analyzes your photo and makes color and product suggestions to create a wide array of looks.

Pretty in My Pocket

This app is a newer player in the game and makes use of featured beauty experts you will likely recognize from YouTube and popular blogs. It’s a great app for networking with other beauty lovers and for inspiration, allowing you to upload looks and tag the products you used to create them! It’s also a helpful review source as well.

You know Sephora has my heart, and their app is no exception. It’s constantly upping its game and adding new features too. I rely on the Sephora app to shop from my bed, read in-depth reviews, check my Beauty Insider points, save products to my Loves, and find cool ideas on their Beauty Board.

Total Beauty

The website has been parlayed into a well-organized review database that I’ve relied on for years! I especially love being able to filter results in the “drugstore” category.
