If you're looking for a fun and unique way to sparkle this holiday season, look no further than this embellished eye makeup tutorial. Whether you want to go the extra mile for caroling and cocktails with friends, or you love being the star of your family's holiday dinner, we're absolutely sure you'll rock this wherever you celebrate. All you need to re-create this look is an arsenal of eye makeup essentials, eye-safe rhinestones, and a steady hand.
Follow these four easy steps from makeup artist, Kati Douglas:
1. Shape and fill in brows with a brow brush and brow pomade. Use concealer and a small brush to clean up the lines around the brow. We used Anastasia Dip Brow in Auburn, $18 and Morphe Concealer in Nude, $4.99.
2. Prime eyelids with an eyeshadow primer, then create a cut crease by applying a matte blush eyeshadow to the lid and innermost corner of the eye with a flat eyeshadow brush. Us a crease brush to apply a shimmery brown shade along the crease of the eyebrow and blend upward, stopping before the brow bone (see our full Cut Crease Eyeshadow Tutorial). Apply mascara. We used Milani Eyeshadow Primer, $5.39 and the Morphe Natural Beauty Palette in 12NB, $14.99.
3. Apply gold glitter eyeliner from the inner corner of your eye and extend it up past the outer corner to create a subtle cat eye. The eyeliner serves as an adhesive for your embellishments; you may need to apply more as you go, because the liner can dry before all the rhinestones are added. We used NYX Liquid Crystal Liner in Crystal Silk, $4.50.
4. Using a damp detail brush or tweezers, apply makeup rhinestones in a row along the glitter eyeliner. For safety reasons, it's important to avoid any rhinestones that have preexisting adhesive or contain mica. You can find adhesive-free rhinestones at beauty supply stores or on Etsy, $8.
Once you've applied the rhinestones, your holiday eye look is finished. Go dazzle in all your bejeweled glory, and be sure to snap a few (hundred) selfies.
