Get the Look: Britney’s Fresh Face
If you ignore the years between 2005 and 2008, it would seem that Britney Spears is aging gracefully and imperceptibly. As she gears up for her 30th birthday celebrations, she’s looking as fantastic as she did when she first splashed onto the scene. (Some might argue better as she now exudes more “newly sane pop legend” and less “jailbait.”) It just goes to show you that anyone can come back from a couple pregnancies and meltdowns hardly worse for the wear.
The former teen queen may be turning thirty, but she still looks natural, youthful, and gorgeous. Here’s how to get her look from this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.
1. Get Gorgeous, Glowing Skin
Use a foundation that will let your natural skin shine through while still camouflaging fine lines or blemishes. You don’t need to spend a fortune to get it—Maybelline Fit Me Foundation has no waxes, oils, or fillers for lightweight, breathable coverage. ($7.99, ULTA) Set with a sweep of loose powder (like Almay Smart Shade Smart Balance Pressed Powder ($11, drugstores) and a pretty pink blush. Almay Smart Shade Blush adjust to your skin to leave you with a fabulous flush. ($7, drugstores)
2. Try a Simple Smoky Eye
Britney’s eye shadow look is smoky, but still natural and fresh. Try Cover Girl Smoky ShadowBlast in Onyx smoke, applying the gunmetal gray shade to the lid and along the bottom lash line, and the pearly white shade to the inner corners of the eye and on the brow bone as a highlighter. ($7.49, drugstores) To get the ultimate lengthened lashes, apply two coats of It Cosmetics Hello Lashes 5-in-1 Volumizing Mascara duo. The multipurpose formula colors, conditions, and curls lashes as well as encourages longer, thicker lashes with its special ash-enhancing serum. The wand includes a ball-shaped detailer to help you reach the teensiest inner and outer corner lashes, too. ($29, QVC.com)
3. Keep Lips Kissable
Sweep on a pinkish gloss that’s just a shade or two darker than your natural lips. Maybelline Color Sensational Lipgloss in Sugared Honey ($5.50, Walmart) gives shiny, nourishing color without stickiness.
