Get the Look: Cobie Smulders’s Smoldering Eyes

We love Cobie Smulders. If you haven’t yet seen her in the “Robin Sparkles” music videos from her sitcom How I Met Your Mother, we highly recommend them. Here she is at the Los Angeles premiere of her new movie The Avengers, looking stunning as ever in a backless Donna Karan dress and an Old Hollywood makeup look.

Here’s how to get Smulder's Smoldering look.

1. Get a Natural Glow
Cobie’s skin looks ultra-natural, with a radiant glow. Mineral foundations contain light-reflective particles that create dewiness and dimension. Try Bare Escentuals bareMinerals SPF 15 Foundation  and top it off with a few sweeps of loose powder across your T-zone, if necessary.  On the cheeks, get a rosy glow with a softly shimmering cream blush like Kevyn Aucoin The Creamy Glow in Liquifuschia.
2. Emphas-eyes
To get eyes that really pop, you don’t need tons of shadow—you just need to line them well. This diffused smoky eye is easy and versatile. Start by using a small shadow brush to sweep a matte brown shadow (like Stila matte eye shadow in Puppy) across the lid. Next, use a larger shadow brush to blend a neutral matte shadow (like Stila matte eye shadow in Dune) into the crease and up toward the brow bone.
Then grab a creamy brown eye pencil like L'Oreal Voluminous Smoldering Eyeliner in Brown and gently line the inner rims on both the upper and lower eyelids. For an extra touch of sparkle, top off the neutral look with a bit of a shimmering pale liner, like Sephora Collection Jumbo Waterproof Liner in Taupe. Coat lashes with two coats of mascara .
Complement a soft, subtle eye look like this with a lipstick that’s natural and soft, too. Try Clinique Different Lipstick in Tenderheart.
3. Get Bent
If your hair is chin-length or longer, it’s easy to get soft, face-framing waves like these. If you have natural curl or wave, start by blow-drying. Use a thermal protectant like Blow Pro Body by Blow No Crunch Body Builder to help build volume without stickiness. Then use a large-barrel curling iron to curl one-inch sections of hair. Start with the hair closest to your face and work backward, directing the curl toward the back of your head. After you’ve gone all the way around, finger-comb to separate large curls and set with a finishing spray like Not Your Mother's Rise and Shine Silky Smooth Shine Mist.
