Get the Look: Emma Stone’s Springtime Smoky Eye

Smoky eyes—totally do-able in the spring. Case in point, Emma stone, who wore a gray-green smoky eye to the L.A. premiere of her film “Gangster Squad” (way back in January…so ahead of the curve!). Swap harsh black shadow for springtime shades like purple, gray, green, or brown, and you’ve got a super-seasonal look that’s perfect for big nights out. Stone, a spokeswoman for Revlon, paired her greenish eye look with flushed peachy cheeks and matching lips. Here’s how to do it yourself:

Start by evening out skin tone with a lightweight foundation like Revlon Photoready Airbrush Mousse Makeup ($14.49, Walgreens), which melts into skin to create a smooth finish. Set with a sweeping of loose power to create staying power and eliminate shine.

The easiest way to create a coordinated smoky eye is to pick up a palette with all the color-matching work done for you. Revlon PhotoReady Primer + Shadow in Pop Art ($9.99, Drugstore.com) contains three blendable shadows and primer to help them stay. Use a medium-sized brush to dab on a thin layer of primer from the compact, then start by applying the forest green shadow along the lid, blending into the crease and winging out toward the temples, and along the lower lashine. Next, take a small blending or smudge brush to trace a thin layer of the light-green shadow all along the upper and lower lashlines, blending with the darker shadow and concentrating on the inner corners.  Use a large shadow brush to lightly sweep the taupe shadow along the brow bone as a highlighter.

Now grab a black powder shadow like Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow Single in Night Sky ($3.49, Ulta) and wet an angled liner brush, dab it into the shadow, and gently trace a thin line along the upper lashline. For the inner rims of the eyes, use a sharp (but soft) black pencil liner like Jane Iredale Eye Pencil in Black ($13, Beauty.com). Finish the eyes with a coat of maximum-drama mascara, like Givenchy Phenomen’Eyes Waterproof Mascara ($30, Sephora).

Swirl a peach shadow (try Tarte Cheek Stain in Blissful, $30 at Beauty.com) onto the apples of your cheeks and finish with a glossy peach lipstick like Tarte LipSurgence Lip Tint. ($24, Sephora).
